In search of an artistic voice: A decade of theatrical collaboration with Instituto Cervantes

In search of an artistic voice: A decade of theatrical collaboration with Instituto Cervantes Varoon Anand

This lecture will offer a journey through ten years of collaboration between Kaivalya Plays and Instituto Cervantes, along with various Spanish-speaking Embassies, such as those of Spain, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru. From Jordi Galceran's The Gronholm Method production in 2013 to the upcoming Teatro Absurdo performance in 2023, this collaboration has been instrumental in the development of Kaivalya Plays' artistic voice.

We will delve into how the theater team used shared cultural points to create artistic works in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes students, including translating works from Spanish to Hindi. In 2019, Kaivalya Plays had the honor of representing India at the Almagro Classical Theater Festival with the play Marta la piadosa by Tirso de Molina, being the only Indian team to participate in this prestigious international festival. This story will highlight how artistic collaboration can bridge cultures and foster creative expression in a global context
