Pride Day La generación silenciosa

Pride Month is a commemorative month, which takes place in June each year and in which special attention is paid to the emancipation, respect and acceptance of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender, transsexual, transvestite, intersex or agender people, asexual or aromantic.

The New Delhi center, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi, will screen the documentary "The Silent Generation" directed by Fernán Navarro Beltrán on June 28th to commemorate this day. The film aims to be a small tribute to the group of LGTBTI seniors in Barcelona, known as the generation of silence because they had to live with their sexuality hidden from their family, friends and work environment. Through 24 interviews, we will discover the stories of people who have had exciting and difficult lives. Exciting because they are brave and pioneering people, who have had to create a path that did not exist. And difficult, because they have lived much of their lives in a hostile environment, marked by the repression of the Franco dictatorship and the power of the Catholic Church, in charge of controlling education and public and private decency.

The programme will begin with a speech by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Spanish Embassy, Elena Pérez-Villanueva del Caz and Mr. David Bridger (Director of UNAIDS) followed by the screening of the documentary. After the screening there will be an an interwiew with the Director, Ferran Navarro-Beltrán that will be moderated by Mr. Eshan Sharma, film historian and author.
