Galapagos Islands: Natural World Heritage Site Islas Galapagos

Instituto Cervantes in collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador in New Delhi, will present an exhibit on the Galapagos Islands, which have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Galápagos Islands that are a unique natural laboratory for studying the evolution of life, it looks into the evidence of evolution that allows us to understand the relationship between different species and their ancestors. The evolution of life in the Galápagos has been shaped by the islands’ geographic isolation, geological activity, and the various ecological niches available to species that managed to colonize the islands. How does the volcanic origins, geological age gradient, and environmental changes have played critical role and offer a living laboratory for studying the processes of evolution 


Through this exhibition, the public will be able to get closer to the fauna and flora of this enclave of great ecological value, learning about its landscape and biodiversity. His Excellency the Ambassador of Ecuador Fernando Bucheli will inaugurate the exhibition after a brief presentation on its content.
