Galapagos Islands: Natural World Heritage Site
Instituto Cervantes in collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador in New Delhi, will present an exhibit on the Galapagos Islands, which have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Galápagos Islands that are a unique natural laboratory for studying the evolution of life, it looks into the evidence of evolution that allows us to understand the relationship between different species and their ancestors. The evolution of life in the Galápagos has been shaped by the islands’ geographic isolation, geological activity, and the various ecological niches available to species that managed to colonize the islands. How does the volcanic origins, geological age gradient, and environmental changes have played critical role and offer a living laboratory for studying the processes of evolution
