The Goalkeeper

El portero is a rarity in Gonzalo Suárez's filmography. Based on someone else's script and with a more traditional comic logic than his audience was used to, it approaches the everyday reality of a post-war Spanish village with hints of a western, as critics at the time characterized this film. Its two protagonists, played by Carmelo Gómez and Maribel Verdú, paint a humanistic portrait of the losers of the war.
