Una querencia tengo por tu acento. Four Filipino Writers in Search of Miguel Hernández
Miguel Hernández (1910-1942) is one of the most significant voices of Spanish literature in the 20th century. Four writers from the Philippines –Marjorie Evasco, Vicente Garcia Groyon, Jessica Zafra, and Lito Zulueta—, fascinated by the life and the work of the poet from Orihuela, decided to travel to Spain to visit the places linked to Hernández. This volume is the testimony of the impressions born from the journeys of these four Filipino writers in search of Miguel Hernández. The publication of this volume is a proof of the steadfast commitment of Instituto Cervantes de Manila in the dissemination of the literary legacy of Miguel Hernández, or, to use a tauric and Hernandian word, of a firm querencia of this center for the work of the poet from Orihuela. Thanks to the support of the heirs of Miguel Hernández, the collaboration of institutions such as the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, the AECID, De La Salle University, the Diputación de Jaén, Turespaña, the Fundación Cultural Miguel Hernández (Orihuela), the Fundación Legado Miguel Hernández (Jaén), and the Rotary Club of Orihuela, we are proudly spreading in the Asia-Pacific region the literary legacy of one of the most important Spanish poets of the last century.
