Creadoras. A Tribute to Betsy Westendorp

The opening of the homonymous exhibition was scheduled on March 18. However, two days earlier, the strict confinement measures ordered by the Philippine government came into effect. The documentary, which lasts 18min.10sec., in addition to taking a tour of the exhibition, includes an interview in which the painter tells us about her life and her work. Filipino by adoption, the Spanish painter Betsy Westendorp is perhaps, together with Fernando Zóbel, the contemporary artist who best represents the connection between the Spanish and the Filipino. The documentary also pays tribute to Manila-born Spanish artist Luis Eduardo Aute, reproducing excerpts from his musical piece “La Belleza”, and other female painters from the Philippines and Spain will also be in the spotlight. Instituto Cervantes de Manila, as a sign of gratitude for the generosity of the donation of her canvas "Passage", of very special significance for the artist, and in recognition of her pictorial career, organizes this exhibition. In it, the said canvas is shown to the public, accompanied by other works with which various Filipino and Spanish artists pay tribute to Westendorp.
