The Dead Man and Being Happy
The third film by Javier Rebollo and screenwriter Lola Mayo returned to the world of leading solitary characters, where in their silence they hide a stormy past. It is the case with the role played by José Sacristán: Santos, a dying hard man who flees from an inevitable end after living his life as a non-stop escape forward.
Undoubtedly, this film includes one of Sacristán's performances where the versatility with which he understands acting is best exemplified.
Synopsis: Buenos Aires. On the top floor of a hospital, a Spaniard who has spent half his life in Argentina realises that he is dying. This dry, funny and endearing old hitman runs away with a lucky consignment of morphine, and heads north to nowhere. A girl he meets on the road will be his faithful sidekick.
