Solar Lands (Tierras Solares)

Solar Lands (Tierras Solares) Laura Hojman

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío fulfilled a boyhood dream, travelling to Spain and touring Andalusia. It was a journey in search of the sun and light that would cure his chronic bronchitis and the sadness which was engulfing him. An expedition in search of beauty, to the lands of the sun.

Solar Lands reveals this little-known moment in the life of Darío, but it also illustrates to us aspects of his life and the main characteristics and importance of his complete works, thanks to leading men and women of letters. The actor Pedro Casablanc gives voice to the verses of Rubén Darío in this beautiful documentary, which was Laura Hojman's first work as a director.

Laura Hojman has a degree in Art History from the University of Sevillla and a European Masters in Art, Culture, Management and Cultural Heritage. She has worked as a scriptwriter and documentary maker in fiction and non-fiction feature films, as well as doing production work for various cultural events such as the Seville European Film Festival and the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival. Following the debut of Solar Lands in 2018, she has once again in 2020 returned to the genre and theme with Blue Days (Los días azules), dedicated this time to Antonio Machado.
