Reading... Violeta Luna (Ecuador)

Reading... Violeta Luna (Ecuador) Nick Chaffe

The first session of the Latin American Poetry Club of the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester and Leeds is dedicated to the Ecuadorian poet Violeta Luna, the poetry of Violeta Luna, one of the most-known Ecuadorian poets. Reading and discussions coordinadted by Professor Diana Cullell (University of Liverpool).

Violeta Luna was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 1943. She is one of the most vigorous and original authors in Ecuadorian literature. Her poetry has been defined as "a daring, beautiful, painful sonata of absence. Time, in Violeta's poetry, is not apprehended by instants, but by vehemence and depths such as light, love, pain, nostalgia, in the trait of a perennial return". Among her poetry anthologies are Poesía universitaria, El ventanal del agua, Y con el sol me cubro, Ayer me llamaba primavera and Poesía Junta.
