International Book Day 2025. Cervantes beyond Don Quixote

International Book Day 2025. Cervantes beyond Don Quixote IC Manchester

We are celebrating the International Book Day, 23rd April, with an exhibition dedicated to the oeuvre of Cervantes.

Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616), best known for his The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, was the author of numerous books in a variety of genres.

Among his extensive writings there are long novels like The Travails of Persiles and Sigismund and The Galatea, a charming collection of short stories which were very popular at the time entitled Novelas Ejemplares, theatrical plays both long and short, theEntremeses, and poetry including sonnets and other works with romantic, pastoral or religious themes.

With this sample from our collection (which includes translations into English, and Spanish versions adapted for various reading levels) we hope to demonstrate the range and quality of Cervantes’ works and encourage you to explore further afield than his famous Don Quixote.
