Benengeli 2025. Semana Internacional de las Letras en Español

Benengeli 2025. Semana Internacional de las Letras en Español Instituto Cervantes

The Benengeli Festival reaches its fifth year.

This is a unique event in the Spanish language, as both its in-person and digital activities will take place over the course of a week across all five continents.

Moreover, it is worth noting that Benengeli 2025 will revolve around the five senses of human perception and their reflection in the literary process.

As we know, the expressive use of the five senses generates aesthetic, formal, and political variations. Writing from sight, from touch, from what is heard, tasted, or traced through scent is not merely a technical exercise, but an imaginative way of addressing and reworking themes such as totalitarianism, espionage; music, oral storytelling, the sound of catastrophe; scars, tattoos, our relationship with the body; gastronomy, famine; perfumes; our connection to nature and the power of memory.

Twelve centres from the Cervantes network will take part in this major gathering, which will bring together prominent voices from the Spanish-speaking literary world—a landscape marked by the aesthetic and generational diversity with which literature in our language engages with the reality of the 21st century.

Sydney, Seoul, Budapest, Brussels, Paris, Bucharest, Manchester, Madrid, Tunis, São Paulo, Brasília, and Belo Horizonte will host these events, joined by several cities in Oceania and the Americas offering both preliminary and concurrent activities as part of the festival.

Over 100 guests—novelists, poets, playwrights, translators, critics—will explore the relationship between literature and human perception, and reflect on the essential characteristics of writing in our language.

Because the words of the senses are also the verbs of human imagination.

Benengeli, the only literary festival to travel across all five continents, welcomes you.
