Antípodas. Florencia Oz & Isidora O'Ryan

Antípodas. Florencia Oz & Isidora O'Ryan Javier Fergó

The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester presents the acclaimed flamenco show Antípodas by the 'bailaora' Florencia Oz and the cellist and singer Isidora O'Ryan.

In Antípodas, Chilean flamenco dancer Florencia Oz, Best New Artist Award at Jerez Festival 2021, shares the stage with her twin sister: cellist and singer lsidora O’Ryan. Inspired by the figure of the doppelganger from the Romantic period (as in Schubert’s Doppelgänger) they explore duality and the boundaries of the individual in a poetic dialogue. They sweep you along in a story of how they were once one, until the moment that one ceased to be the other and became herself. With playful elegance, Florencia Oz and Isidora O'Ryan create a contemporary and minimalistic world of movement. In between strings, voices and movement, a visual and sensual performance is crafted on the boundary of where one ends and the other begins. The dance, the flamenco, the percussion and the visual poetry of one influence the instrument, the melody, the vocals and the poetry of the other.

This programme is carried out with the support of the Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Music and Performing Artes, co-organised by the Instituto Cervantes and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musica, INAEM, Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan - funded by the European Union - Nextgeneration.eu.
