The Memory Pains Me (Me duele la memoria)
On Thursday 9 June, the documentary Me duele la memoria (The Memory Pains Me) (Bastien Genoux and Iara Heredia Lozar, 2018) tells the stories of Liliana, Joao, Teresa, Hector, Oscar and Alberto, whose lives change dramatically on 11 September 1973, on that day the armed forces of General Pinochet put a brutal end to the Chilean democracy. They had to go into exile. Their memories are painful. The film connects past and present with the solidarity towards refugees.
The screening will be accompanied by an introduction by the director Iara Heredia Lozar + Q&A session after the screening with the director and Dr Carmen Herrero (Manchester Metropolitan University.
