The Department of Culture, Languages and Area Studies of the University of Liverpool has organized a week full of events to celebrate the variety of cultures of the Iberian Peninsula. Instituto Cervantes in Manchester is actively participating for one more year in this series of events by inviting the successful Spanish novelist Juan Gómez-Jurado whose books have been translated into more than 40 languages and published in 42 countries to date.

Gómez-Jurado is a writer and journalist who has a wide career in media. After graduating in Information Sciences from CEU San Pablo de Valencia, he worked at Canal Plus, TVE, La voz de Galicia and La Cadena COPE before dedicating his life to literature. As a writer he has achieved success focusing on narratives and crime fiction: The Spy of God, Contract with God, The emblem of the traitor, The legend of the thief and The patient. The latter is in the process of being adaptated for cinema in Hollywood.

The writer contributes to this edition of the 'Iberian Week' by participating in a question and answer session where he will talk about his professional career and will reveal the intricacies of his novels as well as several personal anecdotes.
