"María Casares, the Woman Who Lived a Thousand Lives": Virtual Film Club Instituto Cervantes

The Cita con el cine (Appointment with Cinema) virtual film club dedicates its October session to the film María Casares. The Woman Who Lived a Thousand Lives, directed by Xavier Villaverde, who portrays the life of this great actress.

Reborn in exile after the Spanish Civil War, the protagonist of this documentary became a star of French cinema, which awarded her a César Award in 1988.

Synopsis

This documentary brings us closer to María Casares, a woman whose life was marked by the Civil War and exile in France.

We will follow her journey through the key historical events of 20th century Europe, a life interwoven with the paths of prominent cultural figures.

Committed and tireless in her work, she constantly sought bold and risky stage proposals that would end up making her one of the most acclaimed actresses of French theatre and cinema.

The event is moderated by staff from the Instituto Cervantes and features the participation of specialists involved in the making of the film (filmmakers or screenwriters).
