Movements for a Solo Demonstration,

Movements for a Solo Demonstration, Cabello/Carceller

In Movements for a Solo Demonstration, the focus is on the body, a dissident body that becomes a demonstration, an act of rebellion against the system itself, a rebellious body from which to question all current norms. The protagonist, Perla Zuñiga, performer, video artist, DJ and poet, literally carries her body as a banner. Perla moves, dances and waves a banner that reads: ‘What a body can do’, in reference to the philosopher Baruch Spinoza. Every revolution, every social movement, begins with oneself. In the face of constant sexist violence and hateful glances towards anything that is different, the queer subject is always on alert and is an example of struggle and resilience.

Session presented and moderated by Argentine-born Los Angeles-based film director Sergio Bonacci Lapalma, aka Chapete.
