As part of the Hablada en español exhibition, we are pleased to present a special public program paying tribute to the legendary actor and singer Carlos Gardel (1890-1935). Join us for a screening of the classic film El día que me quieras (1935, Paramount), followed by a mesmerizing tango musical performance by Saide Abdala, renowned for her interpretation of Gardel's music as Gardel Siglo XX.

El día que me quieras is a musical feature film starring the tango singer Carlos Gardel. Gardel performs the songs Sol tropical, Sus ojos se cerraron, Guitarra, guitarra mía, Volver, Suerte negra (in a trio with Lusiardo and Pelufo), and El día que me quieras, with a final duet with Rosita Moreno.

This event not only honors the legacy of Carlos Gardel but also highlights the profound influence of Spanish-language cinema during this era. The film screening and musical performance offer a unique opportunity to experience the cultural richness and artistic impact of Spanish-language cinema from the past to the present day.
