In a new collaboration between the Cervantes Institute in Los Angeles and FIACINE, the association of Ibero-American film producers, Colombia presents the feature film Un Poeta (A Poet) by director Sergio Soto Mesa at the Cervantes Institute, which is running for the 2026 Oscar for Best International Feature Film. Synopsis: Oscar Restrepo’s obsession with poetry brought him no glory. Aging and erratic, he has succumbed to the cliché of the poet in the shadows. Meeting Yurlady, a teenage girl from humble roots, and helping her cultivate her talent brings some light to his days, but dragging her into the world of poets may not be the way.After the screening, there will be a discussion with the audience led by director Simón Mesa Soto
