This event will be a conversation between Guillermo Arriaga and Olivia Vázquez Medina, University of Oxford, on the occasion of the launcching of "The Untameable", by Quercus Books. An epic novel of revenge and retribution, "The Untameable" is a story of pure adventure, unfolding in the fragmented, non-linear fashion that Arriaga is famous for, and set against a backdrop of repression, police brutality and Church intrigue. Guillermo Arriaga is a Mexican author, screenwriter, director and producer. His novels, "Escuadrón Guillotina" (1991), "A Sweet Smell to Death" (1994), "The Buffalo of the Night" (1999) and short story collection, "Retorno 201", have been translated into eighteen languages. His films include "Amores Perros", "21 Grams", "Babel" and "The Burning Plain". He recently won the Premio Alfaguara, Spain’s premier literary award, for his novel "Save the Fire". Frank Wynne has translated works by Michel Houellebecq, Frédéric Beigbeder, Claude Lanzmann, and many others. He is a winner of the Premio Valle Inclán and the Scott Moncrieff Prize. Jessie Méndez Sayer is a literary scout and translator. This is her first full-length literary translation.
