Pepe Romero | Farewell World Tour: Concert
IC
The Echoes of Ibero-American Classical Music Festival, with the support of the Cervantes Institute, presents "Pepe Romero's farewell world tour: Concert".
Born in Malaga, into the dynasty of Spain's “royal guitar family”, Pepe is the son of the great guitarist Celedonio Romero and brother of guitarists Celin and Ángel. Performing together as an ensemble, they gave rise to the then novel concept of the “guitar quartet” and challenged traditional boundaries by demonstrating their equal prowess in both classical and flamenco styles. More than sixty years after his first appearance on stage at the age of seven, Pepe continues to captivate audiences, having given thousands of concerts around the world.
In this recital, he celebrates a lifetime dedicated to music, while paying tribute to his Andalusian roots, offering a retrospective programme characteristic of the fiery Spanish repertoire of his entire career, including some of his own compositions and transcriptions by his father.
The evening concludes with several guitar quartets from the Romero family repertoire, performed together with students from the Royal Academy of Music.
