Inspired by... Mompou
Maria Canyigueral, piano
Pianist Maria Canyigueral presents the world premiere of ‘Avant-guarding Mompou’, an exploration of Mompou’s Cançons i danses which combines the original pieces with new creations by contemporary composers Antón García Abril, Victor Estapé, Josep Maria Guix, Joan Magrané (Spain), Moritz Eggert (Germany), Konstantia Gourzi (Greece), Jirí Gemrot (Czec Republic), Nicolas Bacri (France) and Joseph Phibbs (UK).
Maria Canyigueral studied in Barcelona with Michel Wagemans. She continued her studies with André de Groote in Brussels and Nino Kereselidze in Madrid. She completed a Master in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music with Sulamita Aronovsky, receiving the Dorothy Bryant Award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in 2013.Maria has performed in venues and festivals all around Spain and UK, and has currently further engagements in Belgium and Japan.

The concert is part of the Inspired by… series organised by EUNIC London (European Union of National Institutes of Culture), which present new creations by composers from the EU inspired by great European composers. It is a coproduction together with Instituto Cervantes, Arts Council in England, Institut Ramon Llull, Fundació Mompou and Lilly e Violetta.
