XX Flamenco Festival

XX Flamenco Festival Festival Flamenco 2025

Instituto Cervantes is collaborating in the twentieth edition of the Flamenco Festival to be held from 27 May to 8 June 2025, with an exceptional programme in venues such as Sadler's Wells Theatre, Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells East, Kings Place and Jazz Café. In this edition, the festival will feature 17 companies and a total of 25 performances by some of the most important artists on the current flamenco scene, both in dance and in vocals and guitar. Likewise, within this cycle, flamenco singing takes on a special role in Flamenco Festival Londres, placing itself at the centre of the artistic proposal. This edition focuses on the voice as the expressive axis of flamenco, vindicating its narrative power, its emotional depth and its essential role in the tradition and the avant-garde of the genre. Thus, the voices of La Tremendita, Queralt Lahoz, Lela Soto and Ángeles Toledano will be joined by the Huelva-born cantaora Argentina, who, on 5 June, will take the stage of the Lilian Baylis Studio “Flamenco by cantaora”. This series of flamenco singers comes to Flamenco Festival London thanks to the collaboration that the event has with the Cervantes Institute, an institution that shares the commitment to give visibility to female talent and promote flamenco culture internationally. In her proposal, Argentina, accompanied by flamenco guitars, dives into flamenco roots to offer a wide range of cantes, some of them unusual, such as the cartagenera, the granaína or the petenera, and the essence of her homeland: the fandangos de Huelva.
