The Good Boss
Fernando León de Aranoa lives up to high expectations and, with the help of a superb cast and crew, delivers a memorable and poignant social satire about a scales manufacturer in provincial Spain and its charismatic owner, Blanco, who pretends to be a father figure to all employees without losing sight of his main objective: the family scales factory and the regional award for business excellence. The film won him the Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at the Goya Awards. Bardem offers an extraordinary performance as the charismatic and controlling Blanco, while Manolo Solo is excellent as the conforming and troubled Miralles and Almudena Amor as a very determined intern that will bring some trouble.
