Duende Global: flamenco in Andalusia

Duende Global: flamenco in Andalusia IC Leeds

The Cervantes Institute of Leeds and Manchester is pleased to present the workshop on flamenco "Global Duende, Flamenco in Andalusia" led by the guitarist and writer from Jerez, Santiago Moreno. Accompanied by his guitar, he will take a journey through the entire history and origins of flamenco.

Every Tuesday in October, Santiago will make a stop in a city that has been and continues to be important for the history of flamenco, starting with Cádiz and ending with the current panorama of flamenco, which has crossed borders and reached the other end of the world. The five sessions will be online and will last one hour, in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English, and the price is 50 pounds.

Santiago Moreno is a guitarist, director, and writer. His notable appearances include international events such as the Seville Biennial or the Mont-de-Marsan Festival. He has worked with very relevant artists in the flamenco scene and has accompanied dancers such as Andrés Marín or his sister María del Mar Moreno, who is a great source of inspiration for him. He has also created flamenco works highly committed to current affairs (No One is Innocent, Buried in Ashes). He has also written several biographical books on flamenco personalities and recently published a collection of articles written for the newspaper La Voz del Sur called Mundo.
