Reading club: 'Wild stories. The internal dialogue in short stories'
This new session of the reading club is devoted to the reading and commentary of contemporary stories by Spanish-speaking writers, who choose "I" as a narrative point of view and which we have called "savages" for multiple reasons: for their themes, for their way of conceptualizing reality, for their narrative technique, for the unusualness of their protagonists... We will comment on short stories by authors such as Rafael Courtoisie, Isabel González, Eloy Tizón and Quim Monzó, among others.
In these stories, the "I" narrator talks to himself and explores experiences, thoughts or ways of understanding reality. This point of view in the short story is as suggestive as it is intriguing: why does the author choose this point of view? What is the role of “I” in each of these stories? These and many other issues will be discussed in the club, keeping in mind that these questions can have as many answers as readings or readers.
The workshop is aimed at anyone who is a Spanish speaker and has a knowledge Spanish (Intermediate 1 or above) who likes reading and is also interested in the different expression and issues in Hispanic culture.
Times and dates: The workshop consists of four sessions:
- Thursday 20th September, from 6 to 8.30 pm.
