Antonio Machado. Los días azules (The Blue Days) Instituto Cervantes Leeds

Antonio Machado died on February 22, 1939 in the French town of Collioure - where he had arrived barely a month before after fleeing the recently turned Franco's Spain in order to seek exile. The 80th anniversary of this event was celebrated in 2019, and the filmmaker Laura Hojman -whose great sensitivity to the subject brought to life the often overlooked period of poet Rubén Darío life in her first time as director for the documentary Tierra solares (Solar Lands, 2018)- paid tribute to the memory and work of the Sevillian poet with her award-winning documentary Antonio Machado. Los días azules (The Blue Days).
