Juan Gómez Jurado at International Writers at Leeds Juan Gómez Jurado

His name is synonymous with success in current Spanish letters. Especially in the virtual ones: his books are the best sellers by a Spanish writer in digital format. In his fast-paced novels he always suggests a frantic rythm that hooks you from the first moment. The Instituto Cervantes in Leeds-Manchester along with the University of Leeds invites novelist Juan Gómez-Jurado (God's Spy, The Patient, Scar) to be interviewed by the also writer and Chair of Spanish Studies Duncan Wheeler.

Juan Gómez-Jurado, whose books have been translated into more than 40 languages and published in 42 countries to date, will visit Leeds as part of the International Writers at Leeds (IWAL) programme at the Faculty of Arts , Humanity and Cultures at the University.

Gómez-Jurado will be asked about his beginnings, his inspiration and leitmotivs and more questions of various types by Duncan Wheeler, Professor of Spanish Studies at the University of Leeds and founder of the IWAL programme.
In addition, Juan Gómez-Jurado will give attendees a reading of several fragments of his work, selected by himself especially for this occasion.

Gómez-Jurado is a writer and journalist who has had a wide career in media. After graduating in Information Sciences from CEU San Pablo de Valencia, he worked at Canal Plus, TVE, La voz de Galicia and La Cadena COPE before devoting his career to literature. As a writer he has achieved success focusing on narratives and crime fiction: The Spy of God, Contract with God, The emblem of the traitor, The legend of the thief and The patient. The latter is in the process of being adaptated for cinema in Hollywood.
