The Art of Writing: Alicia Kopf and Sara Baume

Both Alicia Kopf and Sara Baume also work as visual artists, and artwork finds an interesting place within their writing.

Alicia Kopf, an award-winning young Catalan writer, explores the unknown of both the Polar Regions and her family in her richly rewarding new book: Brother In Ice. Translated by Mara Faye Lethem, this hybrid novel uses the stories of polar exploration to make sense of the protagonist’s own concerns.

Sara Baume is a writer of outstanding grace and style. Her second novel, A Line Made By Walking, is a profound meditation on the interconnectedness of wilderness, art and individual experience, and a powerful exploration of human frailty.

The event will be chaired by novelist and critic Rob Doyle.
