The cameras captured this moment and the image went viral, becoming one of the most shameful icons of the conflict that scandalised public opinion. The story of Ossamah and his family allows us to reflect on the survival of thousands of Syrian families trapped in Turkey. What was made of his dreams and ambitions? Hayati (my life) is the story of Ossamah and his son Zeid, but also that of Moatassam, Youssef and Muhannad, three promising Syrian footballers to whom the war snatched the best years of their lives.
