Cut and Create: Film Editing Workshop

First from the viewer's seat, but immediately from the editing desk, this 3-hour workshop addressed to students of Spanish, will show how endless and surprising narrative and expressive possibilities can be constructed through editing. In the first part of the workshop, the fundamentals and basic techniques of film editing will be explored through the viewing of clips from high-quality Spanish films. In the second part, attendees will have the opportunity to experiment practically, working with materials provided by the instructor, on the possibilities offered by state-of-the-art editing software. 


José Ángel Lázaro, founder of the Film Chair at the University of Oviedo (Spain)—has taught cinema and audiovisual narrative at dozens of institutions over the last twenty-five years. In his professional career within the audiovisual industry, he has over forty international projects to his credit from the last three decades.
