Through reading the play Quirófano (Operating Theatre), a book published by Centro Dramático Nacional, participants will get to know the playwright Almudena Ramírez-Pantanella and reflect on her literary approach. The play uses racism as a focal point for exploring human relationships. Set in an operating theatre, with masks and scalpels as a metaphor, it invites debate on nationality, identity and other issues addressed with the powerful lyricism characteristic of the author. Students will delve into the characters, analysing their situation, conflicts, emotional processes, character, motivations and relationships with others. Based on the text, voice and body as expressive tools, each participant will stage a scene to practically understand the themes of the play.
