Flamenco dance, online. First season

Flamenco dance, online. First season Instituto Cervantes Dublín, Laura Martín

In this new season of Flamenco dance workshop, the Spanish bailaora Sandra Palomar will teach a new style of flamenco: Tiento. The course comprises eight one-hour long classes which will take place on Wednesdays, from 19:00 to 20:00 h.

Within the different modalities of Flamenco (called palos), the Tiento is also performed with songs wich lyrics generally speak of love and lack of love, with a subtle dramatic and melancholic charge. The rhythm comes from the family of binary 4x4, just like Flamenco Tangos and all its variants, although the Tiento is slightly slower; allowing to explore and enjoy the sensuality of controlled and cadenced movements that turn the Tiento into a harmonic dance with a deep expressive charge.

Each session includes:
  • 10 min of warm-up, rhythm exercises and joint mobility.
  • 10 min of footwork (zapateado). 30 min of choreography by Tientos.
  • 10 min of relaxation exercises applied to dancing and stretching.
