A conversation with acclaimed international poet and novelist, Eva Baltasar, and the translator of her recent trilogy (Permafrost, Boulder and Mammut), Julia Sanches, who will discuss about identity and translation, along with Hispanist Helena Buffery (UCC). 


Eva Baltasar (Barcelona, 1978) is a writer and poet. Her novel Permafrost (Finalist Prix Médicis Étranger 2021, Catalan Booksellers' Award 2018), translated into more than fifteen languages, is the first delivery of a triptych with female protagonists that has followed with Boulder (Finalist International Booker Prize 2023, Finalist Prix Les Inrockuptibles 2022, Òmnium Award for the Best Catalan Novel 2020) and that has closed with Mammut

Julia Sanches is a literary translator working in various languages (Portuguese, Spanish, and Catalan). She is a founding member of the translators' collective Cedilla & Co. She has translated Eva Baltasar's trilogy Permafrost, Boulder, and Mammut."
