The work of multidisciplinary artist Olga Diego (Alicante, 1969) is primarily concerned with the exploration of the limits of the human and gendered body. Over three decades, she has produced a varied corpus of work in the form of sculpture, installation, performance, audiovisual and drawing. In this talk, she will offer an insight into her vast and varied creative practice and will present Metamorphosis, a giant site-specific plastic temporary sculpture to be located at the ground floor of UCD’s Newman Building. Designed as a performative-educational space, this temporary installation gives visibility to the pressing issue of plastic pollution and provides students, faculty staff, UCD workers and visitors with a space for free expression. Metamorphosis will be available from 6 to 10 October at Newman Building, UCD.


Olga Diego, Alicante 1969, is a multidisciplinary artist who specialises in sculptural processes, performance, audiovisual and drawing. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad Miguel Hernández in Elche (2006). She is interested in the construction of different artefacts and the exploration of these through performance. Over the years, she has experimented with flying and has flown in one of the artefacts she has created. The participation of the public in her work is key in most of her proposals. She explores the limits of the body and identity, develops inflatable sculptures imbued with movement through electronic circuits and programming.
