Benjamin Espósito has spent his entire working life as a criminal court employee. Recently retired, he decides to write a novel about a criminal case in which he was once involved in investigating. In 1974, the court he worked for was assigned the investigation of the rape and murder of a beautiful young woman occurred in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Writing the book on the murder will lead him to relive some details about the case and confront his own past. The Secret in Their Eyes was the most successful Argentine film in 2009 and one of the highest grossing films in the history of Argentine cinema. In 2010, it became the second Argentine film to win the Oscar as Best Foreign Film.
