The old man who read loves stories

The old man who read loves stories Editorial Tusquets

Author: Luís Sepúlveda Antonio José Bolívar Proaño lives in El Idilio, a remote village in the Amazon region of the Shuar Indians (misnamed Jíbaros), and with them he learned to know the Jungle and its laws, to respect the animals and the indigenous people who populate it, but also to hunt the fearsome tigrillo as no white could ever do it. One day he decided to read passionately novels of love - "the real one, the one that makes you suffer" - that twice a year Rubicundo Loachamín takes you to distract the solitary equatorial nights of his incipient old age. In them he tries to get away a little from the boastful stupidity of those greedy outsiders who believe they dominate the jungle because they are armed to the teeth but they do not know how to confront a maddened beast because they have killed the young. Described in a crystalline language, concise and precise, the adventures and emotions of the old Bolívar Proaño will hardly leave our memory.
