Kolombianas - Katie James and Karin Stein International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago

Singer-songwriters Katie James and Karin Stein, both of Colombia, present a concert of original and traditional music as part of the Chicago Latino Music Series of the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago. Katie James, recognized for her interpretation of Bambucos and other genres of Colombian music, is making her Chicago debut alongside Karin Stein, performer of Joropo music and other Colombian rhythms.


Katie James was born in Ireland but raised in Colombia since infancy, Katie has a musical career spanning 15 years with 5 albums and performances on stages in Mexico, Italy, Holland, Scotland, the U.S., Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia. She was twice nominated for Premios Nuestra Tierra with her songs Toitico Bien Empacao, La Quebrada and her album Humano.

Karin Stein is a Colombian musician living in the U.S. who is a member of various musical groups including Calle Sur, Tropicantes, and Los Llaneros performing Colombian and Latin American music. She has performed on stages across the U.S. and Latin America and is presenting her most recent collaboration with Katie James for the first time in Chicago.
