Del amor y otros demonios
Gabriel García MárquezReeding: Del amor y otros demoniosAuthor: Gabriel García MárquezOn October 26, 1949, reporter Gabriel García Márquez was sent to the old convent of Santa Clara, which was to be demolished to build a five-star hotel on top of it, to witness the emptying of the funeral crypts and to cover the news. The remains of a viceroy of Peru and his secret lover, a bishop, several abbesses, a bachelor of arts and a marchioness were exhumed. But the surprise came when the third niche of the main altar was uncovered: a copper-colored hair, twenty-two meters and eleven centimeters long, belonging to a girl, was scattered. On the tombstone, the name could barely be read: Sierva María de Todos los Ángeles.
