María del Carmen Rivas Aranda, gypsy dancer, is known in the world of Flamenco dance as the artist La Talegona. She was born in Córdoba in 1976, the niece of the famous singer of saetas Talegón de Córdoba. Her first activities and performances were directed by Javier de la Torre in the production “Suite Española”.

At the age of 11 she studied flamenco dance in the conservatory in the centre of performing arts in Córdoba. In 1992, she received the first prize in the National
flamenco dance competition, La Carlota”. From the age of 14, she started travelling throughout Spain alone sharing the stage with star figures in the flamenco world, like José Mercé, La Macanita, Chano Lobato, El Pele and Enrique Morente.
