Chicago Flamenco Festival Closing Night with Carmen La Talegona
March 7th, 2015 - 7:30pm María del Carmen Rivas Aranda, gypsy dancer, is known in the world of Flamenco dance as the artist La Talegona. She was born in Córdoba in 1976, the niece of the famous singer of saetas Talegón de Córdoba. Her first activities and performances were directed by Javier de la Torre in the production “Suite Española”. At the age of 11 she studied flamenco dance in the conservatory in the centre of performing arts in Córdoba. In 1992, she received the first prize in the National $35 general admission; $30 students and members of Instituto Cervantes, Arte y Vida Chicago, Flamenco Arts Center and Old Town School of Folk Music.
