LORCA, Living the Experience.

LORCA, Living the Experience. Water People

Water People Theater, in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes Chicago and Whatako Productions, presents LORCA, LIVING THE EXPERIENCE, created and directed by Artistic Director Iraida Tapias. It is a performance combining text and music written and composed by Federico García Lorca. LORCA, Living the Experience is a show that highlights the protagonists of Federico García Lorca's plays: The Prodigious Woman of the Shoemaker, Doña Rosita the Spinster, Blood Wedding, The House of Bernarda Alba, Yerma, and Mariana Pineda.

Through video mapping, the poet and his characters become immersed in an atmosphere filled with flamenco music written and composed by Lorca through heel tapping, piano, guitar, and voice. Through these female voices and his music, Lorca speaks to the audience about free will, profound pain, passionate love, imprisoned blood, the absence of hope, and ultimately revealing the profound meaning of freedom.
