Return to Eden

This exhibition by Spanish Comic artist Paco Roca is held as part of the «Comic Weeks in Jordan».

Paco Roca: «This story begins with a photograph, the only one of my mother with her mother. It looks like a normal photo, a day at the beach in Valencia in the summer of 1946. But for my mother, it has always been her most precious photo. I created this story based on that photo. I wanted to get inside it and see what happened outside the frame, what they talked about, what they ate, what happened before and after the photographer captured that moment that, eighty years later, still touched my mothers’ feelings every time she looked at it. Return to Eden talks about the women in my family, about my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother ... about women, who, due to their womanhood and their social status, were all illiterate. Women dreamers from whom I inherited the desire to tell stories.»
