Cinema in Female

The Instituto Cervantes in Amman organizes a film forum session where two award-winning documentaries at the International Documentary Film Festival on Gender will be shown and commented: Campeonas (Champions) by Elena Carrascal, and Mujer de Tierra (Soil Woman) by Evelyn Mercedes Muñoz Marroquin. 


Organized by the NGO Mujeres del Mundo (Women of the World) in collaboration with the local government of Soria, the International Documentary Film Festival on Gender is an international referent when talking about documentary cinema specialized in topics related to the demands of the feminist agendas all over the world, that intend to contribute to the creation of fairer and more equalitarian societies. 

«MUJER DE TIERRA» 
Synopsis: In the Nahua community in Hueyapan, Puebla, coexist the tales of a generation of women that have challenged the social norms. Throughout their embroideries, acts of rebellion, and self-love, they unite to transform themselves and change the course of their history.  

«CAMPEONAS» 
Synopsis: Campeonas is a documentary series that consists of six episodes that reclaim women’s football. Three generations of Spanish footballers that show the evolution of this sport for women share their testimonies; Alexia Putellas, forward and midfielder for FC Barcelona, and the Spanish National Club, one of the big icons of female football. Carmen Arce “Kubalita”, the first international goalkeeper with Spain, started playing football in 1970 in Valencia. This pioneer of women’s football flattened the path so a new generation of women could consider having a professional future in football. Finally, the young rising star Viktoria Adrianova, forward in Barcelona B, who with only 17 years has taken this discipline in a different direction, while she balances sport with her academic life.
