Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque launches the New Narratives Workshop focused on the creation of the new biography of Teresa Urrea (Ocoroni, Sinaloa, Mexico, 1873 - Clifton, Arizona, USA, 1906).
Related to the "Mujeres santas" Project, conceived and directed by cultural manager, museologist and international curator Nekane Aramburu, and developed on the border between the southern United States and Mexico, together with artist Ana Gallardo, based on the legendary figure of Teresa Urrea.
This online workshop consists of a theoretical part taught by Nekane Aramburu and an experiential part taught by Ana Gallardo.
It is divided into two online sessions:
1. Presentation and start-up session. First phase of knowledge and approach (2 hours). Participants will receive the keys to begin field work. Theoretical and practical lines of work. To be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022.
2. Analysis and sharing session. Working session to analyze results (4 hours). Depending on the progression of the workshop, it is feasible the edition of a video or publication. To be held on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Who is the target audience?
Collectives of women activists, associations committed to gender violence, anthropologists, historians, cultural workers, artists from visual to performing arts, social mediators and trainers of groups at risk.
Contents: Experimenting new ways of biography through audiovisual material, the analysis of oral memory and construction practices, horizontal and networked.
We will look for new ways of biographing from a gender perspective in openness with the current social dynamics to rethink memories.
It will focus on subjects related to popular sacralization, sanctified women and the reconstruction of biographies for identity and gender revisions linked to the "Holy Women" project.
Motivation letter: expressing interest and objectives regarding the workshop. Experience in contexts of recovery / historical memory and social mediation will be valued, as well as experience with moving image or writing.
