Andrew HouchensUnder our LGTBI + cycle and as a preview of the eighth edition of ¡Cine Magnífico !, Latinx Film Festival, which will be held from November 19 to 21, Instituto Cervantes de Albuquerque organizes a on line meeting with the director Andrew Houchens. Based in Mexico City, Houchens premiered the documentary Juan de las Brujas last year, which honors the legacy of Mexican folk dancer Juan Medellín. Andrew Houchens is a producer and director who is also part of the team of the Berlinale’s European Film Market and is a consultant for the Guadalajara Film Festival. He has collaborated with various top festivals and markets in Latin America, previously oversaw Tribeca’s TFI Network Co-Production Market, and worked for IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) for several years, producing the Gotham Awards. Andrew's films have premiered at SXSW, Tribeca, Hot Docs Toronto, and IDFA and have been acquired by Criterion Collection and Netflix. His 2019 award-winning directorial debut Juan de las Brujas premiered in competition at Guadalajara and was acquired by PBS. Andrew is a Sundance Creative Producing Fellow.
