El Abraham de Nuevo México El escritor y diplomático Eduardo Garrigues.

Presentation of El Abraham de Nuevo México, a new book by Eduardo Garrigues about the presence of the Deputy of New Mexico, Pedro B. Pino in the Cortes de Cádiz of 1812.

Eduardo Garrigues

After beginning his literary career by winning the Café Gijón prize for short novels (1961) and the Pío Baroja Prize for short stories (1971), he has managed to combine his vocation as a writer with a diplomatic career, as counselor at the Spanish mission to the United Nations, cultural advisor and director of the Spanish Institute in London, director general of the Casa de América and ambassador to several countries in Africa and Europe.
His travels through the deserts of New Mexico inspired Al oeste de Babilonia, and his wanderings in the Kalahari Desert -when he was Spanish ambassador to Namibia-, the African novel La dama de Duwisib, based on the life of an American woman who bought a large estate in the desert.

His recent research in the Library of Congress (Washington), the General Archive of the Nation (Mexico) and the archives of Cuba have allowed him to discover unpublished data on the life of Bernardo de Gálvez, a soldier from Malaga who played a decisive role in the war for the independence of the United States and became famous for the capture of Pensacola (Florida), considered one of the most brilliant battles in our military history.

The event will have the presentation of the Ambassador of Mexico Roberta Lajous and the presence of the Honorary Consul of Spain in El Paso Martha Vera and the Honorary Consul of Spain in Santa Fe Albert Gallegos. After the presentation we will invite all attendees to a Spanish wine.
