TOC TOC (Vicente Villanueva, 2017)
TOC TOC (Vicente Villanueva, 2017) continues the Great Spanish Film Comedies series with a film based on the successful play by French playwright Laurent Baffie. The story brings together a group of patients with obsessive‑compulsive disorders who meet in the waiting room of a renowned psychiatrist whose delay forces them to interact and confront their own compulsions. From this premise, the film develops a series of fast‑paced and humorous situations in which comedy becomes a way to explore coexistence, empathy and individual differences. Featuring an ensemble cast and a structure that recalls its theatrical origins, the film stands out for its energy and the strong connection it establishes with audiences. The screening will take place on 27 August and will be presented in Spanish with English subtitles.
In this contemporary comedy, humour draws on exaggerated yet recognisable characters to offer a light but sympathetic view of human obsessions and the need for acceptance, making it one of the most popular recent comedies in Spanish cinema.
