The virtual film club Cita con el cine closes its 2026 programme with Arquitectura emocional 1959, by Elías León Siminiani.
León Siminiani’s career has been shaped by the cinematic essay, with reflections on space and the ways we inhabit it running throughout his documentary work, particularly since his first feature film, Mapa. In this short film, he continues to explore the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction, paying tribute to Madrid and to one of its most prominent architects, Secundino Zuazo.
SYNOPSIS
Here is the love story of Sebas and Andrea, first-year university students, during the 1958–1959 academic year. Here, social class and ideology become seemingly insurmountable obstacles…? Here, architecture quietly draws the dotted line that will ultimately shape their emotions.
